a) kill all existing rpm processes b) rm -f /var/lib/rpm/__db.00? c) rpm --rebuilddb
This triple step might repair your system.
Thanks. It did. The db files didn't exist before rpm --rebuilddb.... Don't know whether that was the problem. But there is one know and rpm just installed a very nice package :)
