Got'cha both beat. I wrote some of my first programs by wiring them into a board for an IBM accounting machine. First real computer used was an IBM 1620, in BAL and FORTRAN. I know what it's like to drop a deck of cards and see your life flash before your eyes as your last three month's work is scattered on the floor around you.

then you should grant me that my ~25 also counts.. wrote my 1st (i'm
embarrased to say) on a tele-type machine hooked to the local college when i
was 12... a really crude game to play 21!!! when basic.. really was basic!!

I think 35 years' experience counts for something. I wrote my first
programs in 1969. C had't been invented yet.
