I seem to be having a hard time booting into KDE.

It is really weird.... I usually use level 3 and just boot to the command line and if I need something I just type kdm and log in there.

On this latest install of FC3 when I type in kdm it tells me root can only switch to the KD Enviorment, then when it does start all I get is a terminal window and a small graphical xclock, and that is it.

Any one have any advice how to get KDE to start.

I have googled this and all I find is how to change the run level not the gui that loads.

Try "switchdesk KDE" to set your preference for KDE.

Try "startx" instead of "kdm" for starting the X server, and it'll start a session as the user you have already logged in as; no need to log in again.

Paul.
