The system which had been OK for several months now
hangs on rebooting after the following:

Loading ieee1394.ko module
Loading ohci1394.ko module
ACPI: PCI interrupt 0000:02:05.0[A]-> GSI 17
(level,low) -> IRQ 177
ohci1394: fw-host0: OHCI-1394 1.0 (PCI): IRQ=[177]
MMIO=[f6001000-f60017ff] Max Packet=[2048]
Loading sbp2.ko module
Loading jbd.ko module
Loading ext3.ko module
Creating block devices
Creating root device
Mounting root filesystem
EXT3-fs: INFO: recovery required on readonly
filesystem
EXT3-fs: write access will be enabled during recovery
kjournald starting: Commit interval 5 seconds
EXT3-fs: recovery complete
EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered data mode
Switching to new root
SELinux: Disabled at runtime
SELinux: Unregistering netfilter hooks
.... hangs here .......
