I have a prism based wifi pci card and all works fine and i had never look at the datas given by iwconfig. But this afternoon i look carefully what this command give me as information and i'm very surprised by the values given : [tanguy@bureau ~]$ iwconfig lo no wireless extensions. eth0 no wireless extensions. eth1 IEEE 802.11b/g ESSID:"maison" Nickname:"bureau.maison" Mode:Managed Frequency:2.467 GHz Access Point: 00:0F:A3:1C:C8:BD Bit Rate:48 Mb/s Tx-Power=31 dBm Sensitivity=20/200 Retry min limit:8 RTS thr:2347 B Fragment thr:2346 B Link Quality:222/0 Signal level:-64 dBm Noise level:-31 dBm Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0 I can't understand how a system can achieve good link and a high bit rate with the signal level lower than the noise level. I retry a lot of time the same command with the same kind of results. What is the problem ? The informations given are wrong ? There is something i don't understand ?
