firewire tape drive

hey all,
having problems with getting this exabyte xva-1 firewire tapedrive to
work with fedora core 3. My hardware is a p4 3.2 ghz sony Vaio
(VGC-RA716G). I do a modprobe ieee1394, modprobe ohci1394, and
modprobe sbp2, but I cant see anything in /dev/ that looks like it
would be the firewire tape drive.

/dev/sda is there, and i'm guessing that the viao uses a scsi device
that provides firewire and usb. But, I cant seem to do anything with
it.

when I grep /var/log/messages for ohci, it says:
kernel: ohci1394: $Rev: 1223 $ Ben Colins <bcolllins@xxxxxxxxxx>
kernel: ohci1394: fw-host0: Unexpected PCI resource length of 1000!
kernel: ohci1394: fw-host0: OHCI-1394 1.1 (PCI): IRQ=[185]
MMIO=[feafa000-feafa7ff]  Max Packet=[2048]
