Happening to me as on two machines as well.

1)  IBM T42 Thinkpad 2378-FZU  1.7 Pentium M, 512 MB, latest BIOS
2)  HP Vectra VLi8 5 years old PIII 500, 512 MB latest BIOS (Has been an
excellent server)

Never any lockups prior to this kernel.
