Double check your /boot/grub/grub.conf > file to verify that the new kernel got installed. How are customer kernels supposed to be uninstalled? Is it as simple as removing the kernel source and modules in /lib/modules/[custom kernel], editing grub.conf to remove the config for the custom kernel, deleting related files in /boot, and changing the initrd and vmlinuz symlinks to point to the "old" FC kernel?
