to: RoboticGolem <roboticgolem@xxxxxxxxx> Alexander Dalloz <ad+lists@xxxxxxxxx> Neil Bird <neil@xxxxxxxxxx> or anyone else who has successfully set up all the buttons on a Logitech MX700 mouse under xorg The information I've found on this subject has been fragmentary and incomplete. One of the best sources was suggested by Matt (roboticgolem) at http://www.linux-gamers.net/modules/wfsection/print.php?articleid=46. Unfortunately, both RHEL4 and FC3 flunk that site's first test that checks to see if their Xservers are "ready for evdev": # strings /usr/X11R6/bin/X | grep evdev Multiple sources also quote a need to make one or more 'pointer = x x x x...' settings, but the methods and numeric arguments are always different. Others describe ZAxisMapping option settings in xorg.conf, but their numeric arguments vary. Still others say you have to install imwheel, but there seems to be some contention about this. Is there one current and authoritative place that explains all this and lays out once and for all how to set up all the buttons on an MX700 mouse under xorg? -- Doc Robert G.
