It appears to be random as no particular site or sequence seems to trigger it. The frequency is low and may not be reported as a problem. This does make troubleshooting a bitch. It is disturbing it exits without a clue.
My own impression is that it is related to either the java JRE or the java applets' programming in the web-page or to Firefox's handling of java. The problems show up on different platforms and also on ATI videocards means it is not Linux related nor is it related to nvidia video drivers.
