Well, I have placed the card in pci slot 5 and it still will not load.

I have looked through dmesg and kde infocenter, and I see several
interesting things.

before loading bttv
1. sound card au8810 and usb ehci_hcd and uhci_hcd sharing irq 3
2. uhci_hcd and via rhine network adapter sharing irq 11

after modprobe bttv
1. uhci_hcd, via rhine network adapter, and bttv sharing irq 11

Nowhere in my bios settings do I find a place to manually assign an irq
to a specific pci slot. It only says irq XX reserved for pci.

This is dmesg before modprobe bttv

Losing too many ticks!
TSC cannot be used as a timesource.
Possible reasons for this are:
  You're running with Speedstep,
You don't have DMA enabled for your hard disk (see hdparm),
Incorrect TSC synchronization on an SMP system (see dmesg).
Falling back to a sane timesource now.
