I've got the following in /etc/modprobe.conf

<paste begins>
alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
options parport_pc io=0x378 irq=7 dma=3
<paste ends>

I tried it back when it was recommended, February.

I tried it set up several different ways, etc.

I cannot get Kudzu to tell me there is a printer on the parallel port.
The printer on the machine I am presently working on is a Lexmark Optra
S. This setup worked fine with older kernels, 2.6.9-1.747, for
example.
