Add the following in your /etc/modeprobe.conf
alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc options parport_pc io=0x378,0x278 irq=7,auto
The same fix was posted in February under "Printer does not work with newer kernel versions". Kim, you were a part of the dialog. Did you even try the fix?
