This is a new install on an old PII Gateway with 256MB of RAM and 80GB and 10 GB IDE drives. This is the same install where ide dma had to be turned off during initial boot from CD. The installation went fine. All images had been md5sumed and CDs were checked. The installation was for the server version and default partitioning was taken. The problem was during the first boot from disk. There were no errors. Initializing hardware.. storage, network and audio were fine. Then the system hung while Configuring kernel parameters.
