Does anybody know how to modify up2date so that it can access all the rhn mirror sites?
RHN is Red Hat Network which used to be the outlet for upgrading the now Replaced RHL versions up to RHL 9. Since RHL was replaced with the Fedora/Redhat merge to the FEdora Project, updates are no longer available using RHN. The upgrades can be found on yum repository mirrors and also on some apt repository locations.
Regarding your question on the available update mirrors, there is a list of mirrors on the fedora.redhat.com website under the mirror location. You can try setting up one of the mirrors that give you the best service and add the urls to your /etc/sysconfig/rhn/sources file for up2date. (Note the RHN directory :-) )
For yum, you would need to setup /etc/yum.conf and also files in /etc/yum.repos.d/ directory to point to the repo mirrors that work best for you.
you might need to read the man and info pages for yum and up2date to get more detailed information. I find that the file for up2date is well commented and easy to distinguish what options are available for updating.
