Core-2, cdrecord -scanbus; NO scsi drive?

Hello Family,

Core-2 successfully installed on my machine using a new drive.

I have a removable drive tray and took out my RedHat-7.3 drive.

I have a HP (scsi) CDRW that has worked flawlessly with
RedHat-7.3, FreeBSD etc.

cdrecord -scanbus always showed the SCSI drive, not now.

The drive was in fact added automatically at install time and
shows up as:

/dev/scd0

Is this an issue that anyone else has seen?

Maybe a bug in "cdrecord" or something?

Any help would be appreciated.

TIA
