Use vsftpd
There is a conf file in /etc/vsftpd called vsftpd.conf
Then there are some user access files in /etc
Make sure you have external port 21 opened in your firewall.
If you have any questions on configuration, please feel free to ask.

Can someone point me to a good howto or page that describes how to set up FTP for a website? I just want to allow access to my website for purposes of updating webpages, etc, from a remote computer... All the links I'm getting hits to discuss how to set up a FTP site for file sharing - that's not what I need for now. Or, if the explanation is short, share it?
This is what I tried, first. I did something wrong, and my connection attempts are being refused. Also, I couldn't understand how to configure vsftp to access the website. Is it the case that once it works, I can log on using my local user info, and just navigate to the website folder?
