so, back to the original question, does anyone have a way of getting an
intel based 815 machine running FC3 to boot without a monitor. the funny
thing is that this was not an issue with RH8.

going to FC3 has been painful to say the least!!

I have intel 815 based machine with FC3 and it also runs without monitor without any problems and I didn't make any extra changings into grub.conf.
I have just unpluged monitor and start the machine and it boots nice.
