Please provide following information:
a) uname -r
b) cat /proc/cmdline
c) rpm -q cdrecord
d) egrep -v '^#|^$' /etc/cdrecord.conf

a) 2.6.5-1.358

Not only to get cdrecord act properly I highly recommend to upgrade to the latest kernel. 2.6.10-1.770_FC2 is the current one. It has a lot of improvements and fixes security issues.

Hi Alexander, I'm not worried about security, I'm worried about making cd-rom's.

b) ro root=LABEL=/1 rhgb quiet

Ok, wanted to be sure you don't use ide-scsi.

c) cdrecord-2.01-0.a27.3
d) CDR_DEVICE=cdrom
CDR_SPEED=12
CDR_FIFOSIZE=4m
cdrom= ATAPI:1,0,0

You could try instead:
cdrom= /dev/hdX -1 -1

(where hdX is the IDE drive name)

I did that and IT WORKED! Thanks and boy there is nothing anywhere that has that fix in print! I made the change and tried the same file cw.iso and it made a perfect cd-rom. And what it did makes sense.
