I noticed a number of unresolved hosts in maillog. Not all but more than usual. I did a "dig" and received the list of root servers but none of the IPAs. I did it again and got just two of the IPAs. Here's what it looked like: ;; ANSWER SECTION: . 121600 IN NS B.ROOT-SERVERS.NET. . 121600 IN NS C.ROOT-SERVERS.NET. . 121600 IN NS D.ROOT-SERVERS.NET. . 121600 IN NS E.ROOT-SERVERS.NET. . 121600 IN NS F.ROOT-SERVERS.NET. . 121600 IN NS G.ROOT-SERVERS.NET. . 121600 IN NS H.ROOT-SERVERS.NET. . 121600 IN NS I.ROOT-SERVERS.NET. . 121600 IN NS J.ROOT-SERVERS.NET. . 121600 IN NS K.ROOT-SERVERS.NET. . 121600 IN NS L.ROOT-SERVERS.NET. . 121600 IN NS M.ROOT-SERVERS.NET. . 121600 IN NS A.ROOT-SERVERS.NET. ;; ADDITIONAL SECTION: H.ROOT-SERVERS.NET. 172756 IN A 128.63.2.53 J.ROOT-SERVERS.NET. 172756 IN A 192.58.128.30 ;; Query time: 3 msec ;; SERVER: 192.168.0.50#53(192.168.0.50) ;; WHEN: Thu Mar 10 15:48:22 2005 ;; MSG SIZE rcvd: 260 I restarted named; dig; I received a complete list.
