Hello there!

I have exchanged my Sony DVD reader with a Plextor PX-116A and also installed a Plextor PX-716A DVD writer. When I put a burned DVD into either one of these drives they show up on the desktop, but when I open them, they are seen as empty (blank) disks. I can however mount them manually as my normal user and go to the mountpoint in a terminal. Only there I can see the contents of the disk.

I have had this problem with FC-3 with a Plextor PX-320A and a Plextor
PX-716A. It does however not occur with all DVDs, but when it happens,
then independently of self-burned or factory-produced.
I have opened a bug report some time ago.
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/beta/show_bug.cgi?id=143421

Other times I can't even mount the disk at all. All this only happens with DVD's, not CD's.

I have however always been able to mount.

Your bugreport is indeed very similar to what I'm seeing here. I saw that someone mentioned to upgrade the kernel to the latest Rawhide version. Which one would that be?
I just upgraded to the 2.6.10-1.770_FC3 (x86-64) but the problem is still there.....

Kind regards, Angelo
