it doens't, it's done dynamically, as I mentioned.

take for instance floppy and cdrom entries


/dev/hdc                /media/cdrecorder       auto  
 pamconsole,exec,noauto,managed 0 0
/dev/fd0                /media/floppy           auto  
 pamconsole,exec,noauto,managed 0 0
