You only need the JRE if you only want plugins for Firefox. I've seen flakey behavior (read crashes) with Sun's 1.4.2 JVM and FF, though. They were fixed by using the 1.5.0_01 version.

I have downloaded and installed Dag's java j2re rpm, with the syntax
yum --enablerepo=dag install j2re mozilla-j2re
I have done a yum update. Is mozilla getting crappy or what? I get some crashy behavior other times too. Other than reinstall mozilla (then java), do you have any suggestions? Is there a way to install TONS of java, way overkill but something that might fix a java browser issue ?
