I feel compelled to note that there are obviously a number of 'quick
guides' to setting up samba, there is nothing like the official
documentation which is certain to be accurate, up-to-date, and official.

All other directions may or may not be suitable.

This is the top echelon of documentation anywhere and certainly
authoritative on the subject of samba:
