Hello,
I am using Nautilus to remotely access a FTP text file. When I double click on this file, gedit opens it, but then I am unable to modify it (my local username is not the same as the FTP login).
Is there a way to make the FTP access transparent for gEdit ?

Is using gedit impossible for modifying a file through FTP, or is so stupid-simple nobody wants to answer ?

AFAIK, neither gftp nor gnome-vfs have support for modifying files using FTP. I think you should a network filesystem, like NFS or Samba, for example.
