Why not simply getting the RPM package, extracting only postgresql
script from it, and modifying it to match your installation?

this. Chris Ruprecht very kindly contacted me offlist yesterday and was
the first to offer me a startup script.
Can someone tell me how to extract just one or two files from an RPM?
