Why would i want to DL these and then do 300 + updates after a install, why doesn't these ISO's get updated every month?

The reason why i ask is because the updates solve alot of the problems that would eventually be asked on this list (See Re: Solution Coming Re: Fedora Community: Under threat?) That all.
Updating and testing the ISOs would require time and effort that is better spent getting the next FC release ready.

How about an FTP install?
I believe the ftp install of the released OS, fc3 in this case, would still require you to use yum, apt, up2date after the install in order to get the most updated rpms.
This might be resolved if the method used to update/install the release allows a package manager to resolve and install the latest rpms that are in the updates directory. I believe future plans are to change to this method vs. anancoda which is a bit fussy about not getting the particular rpm that it is expecting.
I never ftp installed the released version, but have ftp and http installed from rawhide. With rawhide, you need to get the boot.iso on the same day that you want to perform the upgrade/install. I believe this is highly related to anaconda and the installer image that is used.
In short, with the current installer used and the current installation methods, you need to do the mass updates. When FC4 is released, you might be able to do more flexible installations and grab the latest upgrades from the repos as you are using the http, ftp, downloaded discs or dvd method to install.
It does not make much sense to have to download the isos and then pull in the many improved (in most instances) rpms just after completing the installation.
Just my observation, hopefully close,
