This wasn't mention in either your example or the OP's question.

I didn't say it would.  I said that from the information provided in your
example, swapping the cables would be the easiest solution.

I guess it depends on what your definition of facetious is.  Spending 30
seconds swapping cables seems to be easier (if you don't have other
baggage) than reconfiguring both devices.

I guess I took your comment "Wait a little while to see if anyone else
comes up with another solution..." to literally.
