Here's a question, why would k3b return an error while trying to run cdrdao as superuser, when I'm not logged in as superuser? This doesn't happen while using kdm.

This may be a dumb question but I'm not that familiar with the Linux desktop...

Can I run GNOME apps on KDE and vice versa?

For instance:
As I understand it a app called K3b is a cd/dvd burning app for KDE.
Can I use K3b in GNOME??

Yes, you can. I would normally add a proviso along the lines of "providing you have the KDE libraries etc. installed" but yum/rpm/apt etc. dependency handling should enforce that, so the short answer is "yes".

John, I believe you would be better served to start a new thread on a question like yours rather than attempting to "hijack" some else's thread. Paul's reply to Oyvind's question was quite responsive to the question asked and quite accurate. I run a Gnome desktop and use K3b.
