Hi folks. Here's another problem, which I believe to be unrelated to my sound card problem. When I log in I get a window open with a title of 'KWrited - Listening on Device /dev/pts0' and in the window is the text: Message from syslogd@dcomp5 at Mon Feb 7 09:42:43 2005 ... dcomp5 kernel: Disabling IRQ #10 I've looked at /var/log/messages and it looks to be related to the built in DVD rewriter, but I don't know what's wrong, what it affects, or what I need to do to fix it. I've put an extract of /var/log/messages at http://www.stainburn.com/messages-extract in case it helps people help me.
