Hi
was just wondering what was up. I've really come to like Fedora Core and 3 even better than 2. I'll just have to get used to the cycle and know which updates to allow and which one's not to allow. That is "after" I get HAL working correctly again. :( That was a process I'd hoped I wouldn't have to repeat.
HAL is a pretty new thing and is under going a lot of changes while its moving forward to a 1.0 release which would be allegedly more solid and refined. while a few fedora updates have regressions things tend to be good overall.
Agreed. I just updated to the latest FC kernel - 2.6.10-1.760FC. I've noticed that while running Gnome a CD won't get mounted automagically when inserted, "if" I do the mount command, mount -t iso9660 /dev/hdc /mnt/cdrecord, as root user the drive is mounted and as a user then I can eject and insert and use the CD drive normally after that. I suspect though this is a temporary condition that is only good for this session and will likely have to be repeated each time I log into my user session.
CDROM usage as a user in KDE is totally fubar'd and completely useless which is why I've started using Gnome full time now.
Just more information for our adhoc knowledge base.
