I feel like I've been saying this a lot recently...

Intel:     Pentium Pro, Pentium II, and later (the Pentium MMX is an i586).
AMD:       Athlon and later.
Via:       To the best of my knowledge, they have yet to produce a chip
           that gcc considers to be an i686.
Transmeta: Apparently all i586, although this presumably could be
           changed by an update to the code morphing software.
