thanks for your help : I have installed "synaptic" but I have to configure the 
packages sources as with yum ; I imagine I just hav eto take the salme as 
listed in "/etc/yum.conf" ; now I have to install the kernel source to 
compile a few components ; I will try this I expect a few softwares missing.

By the way you were right with your LILO entry like :
other=/dev/where_my_GRUB_is
	label=fedora

but I was not able to properly configure GRUB files to have it running well ; 
it is hanging ; "grub-install" works fine but I am not sure it builds 
correctly the files : it just builds from some configuration files you edit 
first ; do you knowx of a GRUB editor allowing choice of kernel to build a 
correct GRUB configuration with all the wished entries ?
