Just wanted to share my solution for a problem I had.
Edit ~/.asoundrc for personal settings or /etc/asound.conf for the global machine setting. To select my second card I had to set parameters like this:
defaults.ctl.card 1 defaults.pcm.card 1
You may want to have a look in /etc/alsa/alsa.conf for the actual state and preferences.
Also run gstreamer-properties and set the audio to alsa.
