I'm experiencing occasional errors like the following which seem to be
related to cpuspeed (using 2.6.10-1.741_FC3 RPM-installed kernel).
Basic questions are does cpuspeed do anything for an Athlon 3000+
chip, can it safely be disabled, and if so how?
Thanks in advance for any help/info/pointers.

Is this on a Laptop computer? If not, you can simply start
system-cofnig-services and disable the service for runlevels 3, 4 and 5;
you can stop it from there too.
