Hi Eric,

to intall not standard packages you could use Yumex ( a yum gui)
 http://linux.rasmil.dk/mambo/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=41&Itemid=41

with Yumex you can use extra repo.

A good site to find rpm is:

http://rpm.pbone.net/ with advanced serch option you can filter the distro

For the packages you are looking for it seems they aren't avaible.

You could compile from source:

download the sorce,
untar (tar -xvzf)
cd in the dir, read the README/INSTALL
#./configure
#make
#su -
#make install

everything should work

remember you have to had installed the develop packages to be able to compile

hope helps
Marco
