Okay, what soundcard do you have? What modules were loaded with kernel 2.6.9-1.724_FC3smp? Did you check /etc/modprobe.conf?

Did you check /var/log/messages for error messages?
The only error message I can see in /var/log/messages (and clear related to kernel 2.6.10-1.741 is the following:
