I took the plunge and bought a PowerBook. Now I'm wondering how to most easily get my Fedora laptop and my new Mac laptop connected via network so I can transfer files from the linux machine to the Mac one (emails, school stuff, etc.).

If you want to do the work of transferring on the Mac side I would recommenced either fugu or rbrowser, have to pay for rbrowser though. They are gui front-ends for scp and sftp, you might find it easier than using the cli.
