I found a discussion about a patched kernel (Sata support, sata_nv.c I think) at: http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/archive/index.php/t-26607.html with someone offering the kernel at: http://www.wtamu.edu/~mlauterbach/kernel-2.6.9-1.681_FC3_SATA.root.i686.rpm then nearly used that (but did not), but decided to give a try to the latest FC3 kernel. This is the only option that worked with me, just downloaded the latest FC3 (2.6.10) kernel and installed after chroot /mnt/sysimage... there was no need for "grub-install". The machine booted normally, generated the keys and we put "up2date" up ;-) > > If later, check if Grub is installed at all. Yes, there was a parameter in the boot loader as "LABEL=/ rhgb quiet", while in other systems it might be "... LABEL=/1 rhgb quiet". I removed the "rhgb quiet" option from the boot then it passed the "Red Hat Nash version 4.1.18" step but stopped later during : ata1: dev 0 ATA, max UDMA/133, 156301488 sectors: lba48 Anyway, the problem was solved installing the latest FC3 kernel, that offer real support for SATA, while the one included with the official FC3 release sometimes does not :-( Thanks again for your help and time.
