For photo manipulation, try GIMP - graphical image manipulation
program. I have only done really light stuff with it, but apparrently
it can do a lot of fancier stuff.

thanks, I have GIMP and use it at our local Club Informatique, where we
do not have an Adobe licence. It works well but is relatively limited
and I have difficulty these days in relearning the user interface
