I have this un-natural hatred of burning CDs when I don't have to. So, generally what I do is...
Download the latest fedora core to a special partition on my hard drive (home) or to one of my Linux based Servers (office).
If I downloaded the iso to a server, I export the directory holding the image via NFS. Then nfs mount the exported directory on the computer to be upgraded.
Mount the iso image to a temporary directory.
copy the <iso mount>/isolinux directory to /boot
Edit /etc/grub.conf to add a new entry in the boot menu as so:
~ title Upgrade Fedora ~ root (hd0,2) ~ kernel /isolinux/vmlinuz ro root=LABEL=/ ~ initrd /isolinux/initrd.img
NOTE: Edit your root command above to match that of the other entries in your grub.conf file.
Reboot the machine to be upgraded.
Select "Upgrade Fedora" from the boot menu.
When it asks for the source, select "Hard Drive" if it is a directory on the same machine, or "NFS" if the image is on the server.
Follow the screen prompts.
The advantage of the NFS method comes if you need to upgrade several machines. Once the export is done, you only need to copy that isolinux directory and edit the grub.conf on all the target machines. Install is quite efficient.
