Re: new kernel but doesn\'t show up in grub at system boot

I have exactly this problem - but I may be able to add a few facts. However, I am a newbie, so this might be a bit mangled.
  
My system boots FC3 667, but I cannot find the vmlinuz-2.6.9-1.667 (and .img etc) files anywhere on the system, whereas the 681_FC3 file (and .img etc) is sitting in the /root directory - but they don't show up on the GRUB screen at boot.  Somehow, the 667 files that are booting are in some location that cannot easily be found (by me anyway).

I hope this helps, I have spent too long trying to figure this out, and I now don't think I'm learning anything anymore - just thrashing.
