Modifying the above mentioned file is a bad idea. Quoting from the fstab-sync man page:
By default, the /usr/share/hal/fdi/90defaultpolicy/storage-policy.fdi file specifies the policy - this file should never be edited by the system administrator as it might get updated by the OS vendor for secu- rity updates. Instead, system- or site-specific rules can be put in the /usr/share/hal/fdi/95userpolicy directory.
all this leads me to one nagging question. How the HELL can something as clearly awesome as FC3 have such an anoying bug on just some systems and not others. This problem, at least to some extent has got to be hardware related since it doesn't seem to affect everything using FC3.
