The default cdplayer exibits a weird flaw: it wont play a cd for me when I put the cd into my cdrom drive. The cdplay gui pops up, but
hitting play does nothing. Now if I go to the command line and enter
cdplay THEN the cd begins to play, but the weirdness doesn't stop
there. I can play/stop the song, but I cannot fast forward and I
cannot skip tracks. I do prefer to use XMMS, but if someone knows
a fix for cdplay, it would be nice to know.
I am having trouble with playing CDs under FC3 also. When I just insert a CD, the CD player window appears, and it correctly identifies the album and tracks (hence it's looking at the correct device and has read permission), but it won't play anything. It doesn't matter whether I try it as root or not. When I try to run cdplay from the command line, there's a brief pause, and then I get the command propmt back; nothing else happens. cdp, however, works without a problem.
