By default, Fedora can play only OGG files. You have to install the
xmms-mp3 package to listen MP3 files. Google it. There are some driver
issues in Fedora's alsa bundle, which invert the output with the mic-in.
Try reporting your soundcard and motherboard models (and Google it too).
