First lets check some stuff, try a "locate drift"
and check the config file.
    $ locate drift
    /var/lib/ntp/drift
    /etc/ntp/drift.rpmsave # hmmm it moved once for me.
    ....

    $ grep drift /etc/ntp.conf
    driftfile /var/lib/ntp/drift

    $ ls -l /etc/ntp/step-tickers
    $ cat  /etc/ntp/step-tickers
