As Sean stated, there is a bug with the X version that is included on the installation disk. I have an 815 card that looked like your example when I tried a pre-FC3 beta. Installing in text mode or passing a resolution of 800 x 600 to the installer might get you through the install process. After updating to the newer version of X, you should be alright. You might need to edit your xorg.conf and add Option "NoAccel" to get X working until you get the upgraded server. See the example in the below bug report. The newer X worked in my tests without adding any options to xorg.conf and even worked with DRI at a higher resolution settings. Pros and cons might be added to this report or the xorg-x11 bug created and referenced in the below bug report.
