I'll rephrase the question: FC2->FC3

I didn't get any answers to my question about the double desktop
problem when I upgraded FC2 to FC3, so I'll try it this way:

Since I had no problem running at 1600x1200 resolution on my
Dell Inspiron 8500 laptop under FC2, can I simply reinstall FC2
and let up2date update all of the packages?  Or will I miss some
new features in FC3 going this route?

It seems odd that my video card and LCD screen would work fine
at higher resolutions under FC2, but not under FC3.  I must be
missing something obvious.
