Fedora Core 2 support for 3c556B NIC

Greetings,

I have been using RedHat 7.4 on an IBM Thinkpad A21m for several years without any issues. I decided it was time to upgrade, so I loaded FC2. However, the laptop's NIC appears to be unsupported. (This appears to be related to Bugzilla report 81422.) A Google search shows several similar reports about this problem, but none seem to have a solution.

Here are the specifics:
> lspci -v
> 00:03.0 Ethernet controller: 3Com Corporation 3c556B CardBus [Tornado] (rev 20)
> Subsystem: 3Com Corporation: Unknown device 6356
> Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 11
> I/O ports at 1800
> [virtual] Memory at f4101400 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=128]
> [virtual] Memory at f4101000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=128]
> Capabilities: [50] Power Management version 2
>
> 00:03.1 Communication controller: 3Com Corporation Mini PCI 56k Winmodem (rev 20)
> Subsystem: 3Com Corporation: Unknown device 6159
> Flags: medium devsel, IRQ 11
> I/O ports at 2000
> Memory at f4101c00 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=256]
> Memory at f4101800 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=128]
> Capabilities: [50] Power Management version 2

> ip -o link show eth0
> 4: eth0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast qlen 1000\ link/ether ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff

Also, the 3c59x driver is clearly loaded.

Based on the Bugzilla report, I gather that something broke between RH7.x and RH9... (any idea what?) and appears to not have been fixed to date.

Any ideas what I need to do to get this card working?

THANKS!
