I finally found the following path, but it appears to point to an agglomerated pdf file which contains an XFree86 3.3.1 exerpt. So, this is not quite correct either. http://x.org/X11R6.8/doc/man/ This document refers to a README.S3, but this seems again to be a stale reference. Thanks anyway for your answer, Joel.
